PLEASE NOTE: UNLIKE PREVIOUS BAD MATH DAYS, YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER INORDER TO ATTEND. THE DEADLINE TO PRE-REGISTER IS APRIL 5TH. Pre-registration instructions are included below.

The Twelfth Bay Area Discrete Mathematics Day (BAD Math Day) will take

place at the Googleplex in Mountain View on Saturday, April 15, 2006,

between 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM, in Tunis Tech Talk on the 2nd floor of

Bldg. 43.

BAD Math Days are one-day meetings aimed at facilitating communication

between researchers and graduate students of discrete mathematics

around the San Francisco Bay Area. These days happen twice a year and

strive to create an informal atmosphere to talk about discrete

mathematics. The term "discrete mathematics" is chosen to include at

least the following topics: Algebraic and Enumerative Combinatorics,

Discrete Geometry, Graph Theory, Coding and Design Theory,

Combinatorial Aspects of Computational Algebra and Geometry,

Combinatorial Optimization, Probabilistic Combinatorics, Combinatorial

Aspects of Statistics, and Combinatorics in Mathematical Physics.

Pre-registration

No registration fee will be charged.

IN THE INTERESTS OF GOOGLE SECURITY, ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE PRE-REGISTERED WILL BE ADMITTED. IF YOU DO NOT PRE-REGISTER YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INTO THE BUILDING AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND. THE DEADLINE TO PRE-REGISTER IS APRIL 5TH. PLEASE INDICATE WHETHER YOU WILL BE STAYING FOR DINNER.

In order to pre-register, please email the local organizer, Ruchira Datta, with your name and current affiliation. Also please let us know if you can join us

Food

The conference will be catered by the Google catering kitchen.

Vegetarian and vegan food will be served.

PLEASE NOTIFY US OF DIETARY RESTRICTIONS THAT CANNOT BE SATISFIED BY THESE CATEGORIES BY MARCH 31ST.

Our chefs will do their best to cater to your particular requirements

(which might include acquiring food from a third-party vendor such as

a local kosher-compliant kitchen if possible), but they need

sufficient notice to make these arrangements. In particular, you may

note that April 15th is a Chol-Hamoed day of Passover. If your

dietary restrictions are particularly complicated, we suggest that you

begin communicating them to us well in advance of the March 31st

deadline so that our chefs will be completely clear on them by that

time.

Directions

We strongly suggest you contact your local member of the organizing

committee about carpool arrangements. Please follow these directions to the Googleplex. ALTHOUGH THE ADDRESS IS ON AMPHITHEATRE PARKWAY, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS AND TURN ONTO CHARLESTON DRIVE, RATHER THAN CONTINUING TO AMPHITHEATRE PARKWAY. ON THE WAY YOU

WILL SEE OTHER GOOGLE SIGNS. THOSE ARE FOR

OTHER GOOGLE BUILDINGS. PLEASE IGNORE THOSE SIGNS AND

FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, IN ORDER TO GET TO BUILDING 43.

When you pull up into the driveway, a broad staircase will be in front

of you. After you park your car, please return to the staircase and follow

the signs.

Hope to see you there!
